I’m 18 years old and I just started playing guitar this year. I’ve been playing since about March-April and I’ve picked up quite a few songs. I’ve always wanted to play an instrument and start singing, but now I have started, although I’m not sure if it’s too late for me (singing). My parents were decent singers, especially when they were young, but it hasn’t passed on to me. My mother sounded like a pop singer when young, but has lost it now and cannot teach me – she learnt by ear. I am just after any advice on to what I can do to improve, seeing as I’m still a beginner. I have always loved music, especially reggae but other songs as well, and hopefully someday I want to create a reggae band just with friends / mates for fun / busking hehehe. I’m also a uni student so I may be alittle busy, but I will put in the effort because I love music and find lots of joy out of playing a song I play songs such as Bob Marley One love, Stir It Up, Redemption Song, Is this love, Dreadlock Holiday, (any other suggestions for me to play on guitar) because that’s what I often listen to and hopefully sing. I know other reggae artists but they aren’t that popular, so not worth mentioning. Along the way, using youtube as my teacher, I have picked up other songs which I like and which help me learn chords. Wish You were here, Hey Ya, Louie Louie, Sultans of swing, Over the rainbow Iz, Green Day time of your life, Sweet Child O Mine (rhythm not solo) I am learning Eric Clapton tears in heaven, I can pick Creed One last breath but only slowly, and I’m learning how to play the boxer picking style – garfunkel and simon. I would love to learn to pick but am not a picker if you know what I mean. I learnt these songs by researching chords / tabs so I cannot play by ear. I can’t really sing, so I would often know what advice you have about singing. I’ve got a deep, teenage voice so it is a bit crackly haha. I can play the songs, just can’t sing them. I try to sing high like others, but I can’t reach it at the top, it goes into a ‘crack’ stage where it osounds terrible. Usually I sing a little deeper, but I am trying to learn how to get higher. My parents say I sing ‘flat’ most of the time, but I don’t really acknowledge when i’m singing flat. (is it too late to start singing without having to pay?) Please give me any advice on how to get better at singing, playing guitar, even any new songs (reggae would be great but whatever you have would be good for learning . . Etc) I have an acoustic guitar, a classical guitar, and an electric guitar. It would be awesome if I could learn to sing, as I am a poor singer. I may be a little nasal as well, because I have a funny voice like I’ve got a cold. It is still deep though. . I also don’t often sing in front of others, mainly because I can’t sing. I really would love to sing though, especially in a band (if possible) as a singer or even backup singer ( maybe that’s a bit much? Haha) Please help me if you can, it would be greatly appreciated . From what I can tell… It’s as simple as this; the more you practice, the better you will be

Just practice singing slowly while you play guitar. . . the more comfortable you become, the faster you can speed up the tempo
